Lesson 1

Discovering Your True Worth

[content_box_red width=”75%”]WOW Word of the Day: For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. -2 Corinthians 5:21[/content_box_red]

We are the righteous—We are heirs of the righteousness that comes by faith. Recognize that you are called Righteous (in right-standing with God) by God through Jesus. You miss the promises of God to the righteous or you don’t fully inherit his benefits, if you don’t know you are righteous. Knowing that we are the righteousness of God through Christ, the question becomes

WHEN:

  • Will we be made righteous? (2 Corinthians 5:21)
  • Are we complete in Him? (Colossians 2:9-10)
  • Are we more than a conqueror through Him that loved us (Romans 8:37)
  • Can we do all things through Christ who strengthens you? (Philippians 4:13)
  • Will God always lead us to triumph? (2 Corinthians 2:14)
  • Is there now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus? (Romans 8:1)
  • Will we have wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30)

The answer to each of those questions is NOW. Right now! In Jesus Christ. For He has accomplished it through the cross. By dying for us, He has fulfilled the righteous requirement of the Law and removed all the condemning and pointing fingers. Once and for all! 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 says, Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ?s behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. If that didn’t say enough, go over to Romans 8:3 & 4: “For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

Let’s take a closer look at Colossians 1:13-21 and allow the Spirit to change how you see yourself and silence the condemning voice of the enemy once and for all.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heave, having made peace through the blood of His cross. And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled (called back into union or relationship) in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight.

Paul writes in Romans 1:16, 17: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

So what’s next? What do we do with this righteousness?

We live in Christ and receive His power, His benefits, His blessings more and more. Day by day, we live for Him, knowing that we are right in His sight. How do we live? By His Spirit and through His grace, we live victoriously.
