Day 11

God Meets Us Where We Are

[content_box_red width=”75%”]WOW Words of Today: Through Jesus we come into the benefits and promises of God’s Old Testament Jehovah names. For instance, Old Testament Hagar called God, El Roi—the God who sees me, after answered prayer.[/content_box_red]

One of the most precious things I receive from going through these W.O.R.D. challenges is a greater revelation, a greater awareness of who God is. You see God is usually who we need him to be. Every now and then the Holy Spirit reveals a whole new aspect of God that had not entered my mind.

That’s what happened when I became aware of God as Jehovah Gmolah (My God of Recompense) Many years ago, I was severely mistreated at my job and eventually fired. The Holy Spirit commanded me to not fight back. Apparently, I was doing more mental rehearsing of the bad events that happened, than I realized. You know why mes; why did God let this happen to me? How could he just let them get away with it?

One morning, I had a vision of my vindication in detail. Father God moved on my behalf. When I woke up, the words resounded in my spirit and mind, “I always recompense!” I knew it was God; because I didn’t use those words in my vocabulary. I had to look up recompense. The rest is history, I now know Jehovah Gmolah. He is our God of recompense. If you’ve been mistreated, let God fight your battle. After all, Vengeance is His…There’s another name of God, you can pay special attention to, that is Jehovah Tsidkeenue-My Righteousness.

Through Jesus we come into the benefits and promises of God’s Old Testament Jehovah names. For instance, Old Testament Hagar called God, El Roi—the God who sees me, after answered prayer.23 God continues to use his names and titles to reveal himself to us.24 In Exodus, he proclaimed himself to us as, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering and abounding in goodness and truth.” 25 Name is shorthand for character in Biblical terms so in this study we could say the character of God when referring to the names of God. Take a look with me at some of the names of God that reveal God’s character:

Jehovah – Elohim—Eternal Creator (Genesis 1:1), Joshua—My Savior (Zechariah 6:11-13), Nissi—My Victory (Exodus 17:15), Elyon—Most High (Psalms 83:18), Tsidkeenue—My Righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6), Tsur—My Strength (Isaiah 49:5), Jireh—My Provider (Genesis. 22:14), Rohi—My Shepherd (Psalms 23:1), Shammah—He is There (Ezekiel 48:35), M’Kaddesh—My Sanctifier (Leviticus 20:8), Rophe—My Healer (Exodus 15:26), Shalom—My Peace (Judges 6:24), Adonai—My Lord (Psalms 110:1), El Shaddai—My God who is Enough (Exodus 6:3), Gmolah—My God of Recompense
