Two of Five Enemies To Purpose

The flesh (our human nature) is one of the greatest enemies to God’s purpose in our life. The desire to do it our way, another way, the easy way, the short way or any old way besides God’s way strives to dominate. Oh yes, there’s the not-at-all pressure which is rooted in rebellion, one of the first mentioned enemies to purpose. Here are four enemies to guard against and protect your purpose:

Rebellion. Because of the fall of humanity, we were all born into sin. So, we can safely say our nature is rebellious. That’s why the Bible clearly says, the flesh is at enmity with God. Yet, Christ was born, lived a sinless life, died, was buried and resurrected. He redeemed us from the curse of the law. Through Christ, we died to sin and rebellion. In Christ, we are the righteousness of God and live an obedient life. With all that said, rebellion will block God’s blessings and His purpose. Rebellion will lead us off God’s path and detour our destiny. We learned earlier, anytime we get off the path of God, we always stay longer and go farther than we ever thought we would.

• Bitterness. There are several top things that can turn into bitterness. Unresolved anger and hurt, unforgiveness, traumatic event, hardships are top culprits. Our enemy seeks to take advantage of these things in our lives. We, all at one time or another go through things. And yes, the old saying is true, it’s most important how you go through them. Many of us don’t go through, we get stuck. If you suspect, you have a bitter root. First of all, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help. Give God permission to do what it takes to heal you. Then do the things He suggest one by one. A bitter root, you cannot pull it out yourself. For me, it took courage to confess things, talking with a trusted someone and eventually I went through Christian counseling. If you are in the Dallas area, Jerry and Jessye Ruffin are a good source for Christian based counseling. Don’t overthink it, just obey God’s leading…
